Playing Arcade Games Yields Positive Effects on Elderly Rehabilitation: Namco and Kyusyu University

Tokyo, July 7, 2004 (JCN) - Namco (TSE: 9752), a leading Japanese arcade game company, announced on July 6 that its research partner Kyushu University has revealed the results of their collaborative research on relationships between arcade games and rehabilitation.

The one-year clinical research conducted on 140 elderly women at a day-care center in Aomori shows that both alertness and physical balance have been improved by playing arcade games.

Maintaining alertness and physical balance is one of the key elements to protect the bedridden elderly from a fall.

Moreover, they concluded that there is a possibility that playing games will help improve physical performance while having fun.
